Being held in the Old Joint Stock pub in the centre of Birmingham on Monday 3rd October
Session 1: Tony Rogerson - High Availability in SQL Server
Session 2: Andrew Fryer - SQL Denali
You can follow the Midlands SQL Server User Group at www.SQLMidlands.com and on Twitter at twitter.com/SQLMidlands
6.00pm – 6:30pm Meet, Greet & Beer
6:30pm – 7:30pm Tony Rogerson - High Availability in SQL Server, I will also cover background HA topics so it will be relevant to other editions too, but all demos will be in SQL Denali and concentrating on the new features.
7:30pm - 8:00pm Break, Food & Beer
8:00pm - 9:00pm Andrew Fryer - Discovering Denali. There is a lot of new business intelligence in the next version of SQL Server, but there’s loads of other interesting stuff for developers and DBAs as well. So I want to spend an hour going over the whole thing and then dig into some of the cool stuff that will be of interest, such as:
- Data Quality Services
- Filetable – the new WinFS
- As well as the self service BI you might have been hearing about
- Project Juneau – better visual studio integration
- SQL Server and virtualisation
In fine SQL Community fashion I’ll take a poll on the evening and deep dive into the top 3
We'll be putting on food for the event, so please do register so we know numbers. If you then can't make it we'd really appreciate it if you'd unregister and/or let us know.
When you get to the Old Joint Stock, grab yourself a drink from the bar and go through the doors at the back right of the pub, and then up the stairs.
If you need any further details or have any requests for this or future Midlands SSUG events, please let me (Alex Whittles) know, either on Twitter (@PurpleFrogSys or @SQLMidlands) or email SSUG@PurpleFrogSystems.com
See you in October!
