SQL Server Product Manager, Microsoft UK
Morris will take the SQLRelay audience on a journey across SQL Server 2012 new innovations that span traditional boxed software, appliances, and cloud. Morris will address some of the tough issues facing IT and dev organizations today; mission critical SLAs that are simply expected, the explosion of data volumes with the need to enable end-user insight, and the evolution into the cloud world. Both IT and developers attendees will see technologies from SQL Server that help solve today’s growing challenges.

Want to know more (part 1)?
I have no idea what you will be doing with SQL Server 2012 as there are so many
new features in the latest version. So after a short high level overview of the
new stuff we’ll dip into the things that you want to see in more detail, be that
the database engine, the new BI stuff, data warehousing and a bit of
development. The only technology I won’t be showing is PowerPoint as you’ve
probably seen that before.

| 19:30 | Alex Whittles SQL Server Business Intelligence Consultant, Purple Frog Merge-tastic Presenting the results from my recent MSc dissertation on the performance characteristics of loading type 2 slowly changing dimensions using SSIS, this session shows how we can make use of the T-SQL Merge statement to take care of the loading of complex data warehouse dimensions. We'll also look at how we can automate the generation of these merge statements to massively reduce the development and maintenance time of SSIS packages. |
