Network, learn, ask a question, meet other folk, get fed - these are all things that happen at user group events. These events are a really great opportunity to socialise in an informal learning experience - if you want your own exposure then come and do a 1 - 5 minute nugget in front of your peers.

Remember to tell your friends and the people you work with; make sure you register as soon as you can.

5.30pm – 6:00 Registration and networking + Tea/Coffee with biscuits.
Meet and greet.
6:00pm – 6:30pm Round Table discussion and Nuggets - ALL
Take stock and get the latest news in the SQL Server field. This is also a great opportunity to ask any burning questions you have, may be a problem at work.

It's also a great opportunity to share your knowledge and gain exposure in the industry by giving a short 1 - 6 minute "nugget" demo/tip.
6.30pm – 7:30 Replication - Neil Hambly
This presentation on Replication will start with an overview of the various SQL Server replication models:
Snapshot, Transactional, Merge with Peer-Peer added in SQL 2008 release
Following the overview, I will then present in further detail (along with some demos) on the following key topics
  • Components
    • Describe the various components and how they interact
  • Administration
    • Best practices.
  • Performance
    • Replication Agents & Jobs
  • Troubleshooting {Techniques & Tools}
    • Tools available to use for monitoring and troubleshooting
    • Techniques to overcome common problem scenarios

Neil Hambly an experienced Architect/DBA/Developer who has been using the SQL Server Product family since version 6.5 during the last 12 years. A regular attendee and sometime presenter @ UK SQL Server user groups & events as well as an avid Twitter & Powershell fan, when not outside can be found coding and Performance tuning and generally "try to learning" even more SQL knowledge.

7:30pm – 8:00 BREAK: Light refreshments
More time to network and ask questions...
8:00pm – 9.00pm Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes (let SQL take the strain!) - Martin Bell

Apologies to David Bowie! SQL 2008 introduced Change Tracking, Change Data Capture, ChSQL Server Audit in this talk I will look at each option, how to use them, the when and why..

Martin Bell is a dashing and attractive redhead and you would never guess that he has been a freelance computer consultant in the UK for over 23 years. He’s worked on many relational database systems and since the 1998 has specialized in SQL Server. He was first awarded Microsoft MVP (SQL Server) status in June 2003 proving he is not just a pretty face! As an insight into his masochistic tendancies he currently organises the Scottish Area and Leeds Area SQL Server User Group meetings. He is also a founding organiser of the highly successful SQLBits Community Conferences showing he is slightly mad and very funny!!
