Execution Plan Basics

In almost every aspect of SQL Server programming, you will ask yourself why the query isn’t performing as good as expected. To get to the solution, the simple answer is “Have I checked the execution plan?”

Speaker bio

Peter Larsson is an international consultant and lecturer since 1993.

He has founded a regional PASS chapter, is a tutor for SQLUG (Swedish SQL Server User Group).

Peter is a SQL Server MVP since 2009, and a MCT since 2011. He joined SolidQ the same year. He specializes in high performance queries, but is also known for how his unorthodox approach to solve complex problems. It's not uncommon for Peter to rewrite a procedure to bring down the exeucition from hours down to minutes or even seconds. When not working, Peter spends his time with his wife and four children.
