6.00pm – 6:30pm Meet & Greet
6:30pm - 7:30pm - Maintenance Plans for Beginners - Tobiasz Koprowski (MVP)
Every experienced administrator uses (to some extent) Maintenance Plans - Plans of Conservation. During this session, I'd like to discuss why it can be useful for us to provide this functionality, when we use them and what to look out for.
7:30pm - 8:00pm Break & Food
8:00pm – 9:00pm - From SQL Trace to Extended Events - Stuart Moore
SQL Server Extended Events can give you details about what's happening within SQL Server that you previously needed to wrestle with SQL Trace for. This session will introduce the concepts behind them, with examples of tracking down long running statements, which dev is still using 'SELECT *' in production, and how to find out just which statement and process is causing your DB files to auto grow.
We'll be putting on food for the event, so please do register so we know numbers. If you then can't make it we'd really appreciate it if you'd unregister and/or let us know.
Wragge & Co's office is at 55 Colmore Row, Birmingham, B3 2AS, just around the corner from the Old Joint Stock pub.
If you need any further details or have any requests for this or future Midlands SSUG events, please let me (Alex Whittles) know, either on Twitter (@PurpleFrogSys or @SQLMidlands) or email SSUG@PurpleFrogSystems.com
